Visual Studio 2010 Silverlight SDK Installation Issues

Today my colleague and I had issues with installing Silverlight Tools SDK versions 4 and 5 for Visual Studio 2010.  The workaround was to download and install Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, download and install Silverlight SDK3. Then download and install Silverlight SDK 4. And finally, download and install Silverlight SDK 5. After this, you should be able to create Silverlight 3, 4, and 5 applications within Visual Studio.

Windows Updates and Other Installs Fail

If you run Windows Updates and it fails, or downloads are set to be installed when you shut down your computer and they do not install successfully, or you install some software such as Kaspersky Internet Security and the installation fails then there is a simple solution.

Make sure that the following services are running: Background Intelligent Transfer Service, SPP Notification Service (Windows 7),  SL UI Notification Service (Windows Vista), Windows Event Log, Windows Modules Installer, and Windows Update.
